Amazon Introduces New Capabilities for Bulky Package Shippers

At Accelerate 2026, the company unveiled new solutions for large-item deliveries, featuring pre-negotiated LTL rates and regional delivery pricing.

Amazon is introducing new shipping capabilities aimed at helping sellers manage heavy and bulky orders more efficiently, as demand for large-item deliveries continues to grow.
Announced at Amazon Accelerate 2026, the new initiatives include access to less-than-truckload (LTL) shipping labels, regional delivery pricing and expanded delivery options through local carriers.

From October, sellers will be able to purchase LTL shipping labels through Amazon Buy Shipping via Seller Central and supported third-party shipping software. The service will provide sellers with Amazon’s negotiated shipping rates and protection against late deliveries, potentially helping to reduce shipping costs and delivery-related disputes.

Amazon also plans to introduce regional delivery pricing in early 2027, allowing sellers to set different shipping fees based on geographical regions rather than applying a single nationwide rate.

In addition, Amazon intends to connect sellers of heavy and bulky products with local carriers that can provide same-day or next-day delivery within approximately 100 miles of a seller’s warehouse.

The company is also expanding support for bulky-item fulfilment through Amazon Seller Flex, an invite-only programme that allows sellers to fulfil orders directly from their own warehouses. Once an order is picked, packed and handed over, Amazon manages subsequent logistics activities, including coordinated collection, in-home delivery, placement, installation, customer service and returns.

Customers will also be able to see a specific delivery date at checkout, rather than a delivery window. According to Amazon, sellers participating in the programme have recorded more than 2.5 times the sales compared with those handling heavy and bulky shipments independently.

The new initiatives reflect Amazon’s focus on improving the cost, speed and convenience of large-item delivery. The company said heavy and bulky products represent one of its fastest-growing merchant categories.

The move also comes as other major retailers continue to invest in logistics solutions for large products, including furniture, appliances, building materials and other bulky goods.
